CARLO SCARPA
(1906-1978)
It is always amazing to me why I'm inherently drawn to
certain things. Carlo Scarpa's iconic architecture is no exception. I was not
aware of the fact that Scarpa initially shied away from architecture. He, in
fact, preferred to practice interior design and industrial design and never
actually completed the architectural profession's educational requirements. He
ultimately ended up practicing the entirety of his career with no license.
Scarpa's style was absolutely unique. His attention to the details in his
architectural masterpieces is riveting. For Carlo Scarpa, God was indeed in the
details.
